My First Centenarian

It's not every day you get the chance to meet a centenarian but I was given that opportunity last week when I visited The Orchard Care Home in Tullibody to meet an incredible lady, Joan (she prefers Joanne) Adams.

Joan is a huge Elvis fan and, as part of her celebrations was entertained by a couple of rock and roll singers who helped get everyone in the party mood. I met Joanne when I came to photograph her with the provost for Clackmannanshire Council, Donald Balsillie, who had come along to present her with a beautiful bunch of flowers. Joanne's most treasured gift was a card from HRH King Charles and Queen Camilla. She would not let it leave her sight.

Full of sparkle and energy, I wish Joanne all the best for her 100th year.
